To keep operations running smoothly and enable reliable information exchange about products, construction products need to have unique identifiers that stakeholders can use. This is also crucial in meeting different regulatory requirements around the world.

Unique identification, as well as notifying trading partners of any product changes, is key to ensuring the correct product is delivered to the construction site, retail store or the final customer. It is also central in ensuring that parties involved in maintenance, repair, upgrade, reuse, and recycling of construction products have accurate specifications about items.

Working with industry, GS1 has developed the GTIN Management Standards to help the industry make consistent decisions about the unique identification of construction products in open supply chains.

The GTIN Management Guideline for Construction Products is designed to help industry make consistent decisions on the unique identification of construction products in open supply chains.
