Because the GTIN is standardised, globally unique product identifier, it can be used to identify construction products across any database or spreadsheet. It enables interoperability across enterprises and systems in a way that proprietary identifiers do not.
The GTIN is already established in many construction-based platforms such as ETIM and BSi Identify and can also be used for Building Information Modelling (BIM).
